Mario Galvez Jr.
On September 5th, 2022, Mario Galvez Jr passed away at the age of 40. Mario leaves behind a mother, father, brothers, sisters, nephews, and beautiful nieces. Before Mario passed away, he was a Trident Employee that worked at NASSCO General Dynamics for a total of five years. Mario took pride in his work and made sure he worked to the best of his abilities. He would take on any shift and would always ask how he could do more to get paid the big bucks. While working for Trident, he delegated and assisted in building Naval ships and other classes of Steel ships. In his earlier years, Mario was a residential plumber. He excelled and went on to become a handyman around the North County of San Diego.
Aside from his professions, Mario enjoyed quality family time. Whether it be at a backyard cookout, a gathering at the beach, or just lounging around at a family member’s house. With him, there was no need for anything extravagant; he would simply sit with his family and watch movies. While with family, he conversated and was able to hold a conversation about any topic. He would casually talk about off-the-wall topics and create ideas on how to make a profit or just talk about unusual thoughts to make the family or friends smile. His presence was always known and loved to break the ice or tensions with his great sense of humor and silliness. Mario was the type of person who could draw a crowd in from diverse backgrounds and entertain them with his great personality.
Once Mario was able to find his comfortable space, he would spend the rest of his free time drawing. Mario found a passion for drawing at the age of eight, he would practice drawing with his mother. He then moved on to drawing portraits of female models that were on the front covers of magazines. Once his artwork was completed, he would deem it as a “Galvez” piece and give it to his brother so he could frame them and possibly have it on display somewhere they would be appreciated. In his 20’s, Mario would spend his time making hip-hop music. He started in a basement recording over tapes on the radio, then took his passion to the next level at Job Corps with other talented individuals. Once his music proved itself worthy to himself and his peers, he self-proclaimed himself as CEO of G-Balling Ent. Where he managed and produced music for individuals who wanted to use his recorded instrumentals or use his studio equipment. Mario is also known as a cuisine connoisseur that has a love for food, simple or rich and everything in between. He had an appetite like no other and would use his love for food to bring his friends and family together, although they would look at him and say, “Dang, another plate?” He would gracefully tilt his head at the person and say, “yep” then laugh out loud. His favorite foods were, Chile Rellenos, Bistec ranchero, a stack of pancakes with runny eggs, and whatever else he could get on his plate.
All in all, Mario was well known for his loyalty, trustworthiness, and great sense of humor. When times were rough, Mario would be the person you could count on to have a shoulder to lean on. Without him, his family would be left out with new smiles that would hurt their faces from how much he would make them laugh. Instead, the family will be left with countless funny memories of him. It wouldn’t surprise them if each person reading or hearing this obituary had their moments of happiness with Mario. He has a special place in all of the hearts he has touched. Let’s remember Mario for the family man he was and instill his values in our everyday practices and give him respect while he rests in peace.
